Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups oat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves
  • ¼ cup milk of choice
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Crumble:

  • ½ cup oat flour
  • 3 Tbsp melted butter or ghee
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • Sprinkle of sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat: Heat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8 baking dish or cast iron skillet.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the oat flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, and spices until well combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, egg, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Spread the batter evenly into your prepared baking dish.
  5. Prepare Crumble: In a small bowl, mix the oat flour, melted butter or ghee, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt until crumbly. Sprinkle it evenly over the batter.
