Blood sugar hacks.
Blood sugar awareness is useful for everyone—not just pre-diabetics, diabetics, or a woman with PCOS. Even children benefit from balanced blood sugar! Stable blood sugar is the gateway to steady energy, better skin, healthy cognitive function, and more.
In essence, balanced blood sugar = balanced hormones. It’s a two-way street. When blood sugar is elevated (due to eating too many refined carbs or processed sugar), the ovaries make more testosterone. And too much testosterone can lead to everything from facial hair and acne to PCOS and infertility. High blood glucose levels also cause elevated estrogen. In turn, this contributes to estrogen dominance. Think: sore breasts, PMS, fibroids, and heavy periods.
Here are 4 blood sugar hacks we love:
- Eat breakfast within 30-60 minutes of waking. Rather than run on adrenaline all morning, give your body the fuel it needs to take on the day. And yes, what you eat for breakfast matters. Opt for protein, healthy fats, complex carbs, and fiber. We love adding our Beeya seeds to breakfast!
- Go for a 10 minute walk after your meals. If that’s not feasible, do 20 seconds of squats, rest for 20 seconds, then repeat a few more times. Otherwise, turn on your favorite music, stand up, and dance. Any type of movement counts.
- Focus on veggies. When making lunch or dinner, aim for ½ of your plate to be non-starchy vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, leafy greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc.)
- Consider “no naked carbs.” By that, we mean pair your carbs with protein and or fat. While carbs elevated blood sugar, protein and fat help keep blood sugar stable. This is why we love adding beeya seeds to everything.
20-minute yoga breaks.
These days it’s hard to fit in meditation, a workout, eating well, working, taking care of the family, and everything else in one day. We know you can relate! Cook your greens to combat bloat.
While high-fiber foods are necessary for healthy hormones, you can minimize your chances of bloat by cooking your vegetables. That’s right. Cooking veggies softens their fiber content, making them easier to digest than raw vegetables. Furthermore, slowly work your way up to eating more veggies. After all, consuming too much fiber at once can cause bloating. As you begin to prioritize more greens, be sure to drink adequate fluids. Hydration helps with bloat.

What's your favorite way to enjoy beeya? Seed cycling completely changed my life and I am borderline religious about it. I make a smoothie every morning and that way I know I am getting full serving of seeds, I am not taking any chances. I typically do oatmilk, half a banana, fresh ginger, a tablespoon of nut butter, a handful of berries, and my seeds. When I am in a BIG hurry, I steal one of my kid's yogurt cups, stir in the seeds, and eat it all in 3 bites.
